The first Avenger “Captain America” was the leader of the Avengers team. But there’s a lot more to this that needs to be unraveled. There are many fans who wonder why Iron Man wasn’t the leader of the Avengers. Why it had to be Captain America?

Both Captain America and Iron Man played leadership roles in their own ways. Captain America was like the heart of the team, always inspiring and encouraging the other members. Iron Man brought his genius and tech-savviness to help the team. Together, they made a great team and led the Avengers to victory! They both had their unique strengths, and that’s what made the Avengers so successful.
However, it was only Captain America who always called the shots in the end. Here are a few examples that clearly demonstrate Captain America’s true leadership.
- Battle of New York – In “The Avengers” (2012) movie, during the Chitauri invasion in New York City, Captain America took charge of the team on the ground. He provided tactical guidance and led the Avengers in coordinating their efforts to protect civilians and fight off the alien threat.
- Sokovia Accord Conflict – In “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), the Avengers faced internal strife over the Sokovia Accords, which sought to regulate their actions. Captain America, disagreeing with the accords, took a leadership role in opposing them, leading a faction of Avengers against Iron Man and those who supported the accords.
- Battle against Thanos In “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), during the final showdown with the formidable villain Thanos, Captain America once again took charge. He made crucial decisions, inspired the team, and played a pivotal role in the ultimate victory against the Mad Titan.
Throughout various Avengers missions and battles, Captain America led by example. He never failed to display courage, determination, and unwavering dedication to the team’s cause. His actions and values inspired his fellow Avengers to follow suit and work together cohesively.
Now that Captain America has retired and Iron Man is dead, we all are wondering who will be the new leader of the Avengers. This is really worrisome.
