His real name is Jay Rubin, and raised in Lido Beach, New York, by her parents. Rick Rubin studied at Long Beach High School and started playing in a band with some friends. Eventually, a teacher helped him to start the punk band The Pricks.
He founded Def Jam Records and also formed the punk band, Hose. The first track of Def Jam was released in 1982. Hose remained active in New York City and toured around the Midwest and California.
