The Perfect Healing Combination

Are you interested in doing yoga while high on weed?

This incredible combination has become increasingly popular since the legalization of marijuana in the US but could date back centuries.

There are many reasons why people choose to enjoy the buds from female weed seeds. Some believe it deepens their spiritual experience, while others claim it helps them relax and de-stress.

But is it worth taking a few puffs before rolling out your yoga mat?

Here we explain how to combine these two ancient practices depending on your fitness goals. You’ll also find a guide on completing a sequence of eleven poses that work well with weed.

Let’s get started.

How to Choose the Right Cannabis Strain

The first step to enjoying a combination of yoga and weed involves picking the right strain for your mood.

If you’re looking to do an energetic workout and stay on your toes, a sativa-heavy cultivar is best. In contrast, people who practice yoga after work to cleanse the body of stress will find an indica-dominant strain the better option.

It’s also possible to enjoy the calming effects of marijuana without the psychoactive high by selecting a CBD option. You could also eliminate the need to smoke by adding cannabis oil to your favorite recipe, like a pitaya smoothie bowl.

Since cannabis affects everyone differently, there’s no such thing as a perfect dose. If you’re new to smoking weed, it’s best to keep your consumption light until you’ve built up a tolerance.

Try an Entry-Level Yoga Sequence While High

Finding the perfect vinyasa or string of poses to combine with cannabis comes down to your experience level. Any collection of asanas will work well as long as you maintain a balanced flow.

We’ve put together a sequence of beginner poses that anyone can do at home to get you started.

  1. Tadasana (Standing Mountain): Stand on your yoga mat with your feet lined up to your shoulders. Put your hands in the prayer position next to your sternum and take several deep breaths.
  2. Urdhva Hastasana (Upward Salute): As you inhale, allow your arms to drop to your side and gently bring them overhead. Slowly arch backward as you maintain this high yoga pose as if you’re looking at the stars.
  3. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend): Allow your body to fold forward from your hips as you exhale. Put your hands beside your feet and attempt to touch your knees with your nose.
  4. Ardha Uttanasana (Half Forward Bend): Slowly lift your torso as you breathe in until your back is parallel to the floor. Maintain contact with the floor, allowing your fingertips to slide up your shins.
  5. Chaturanga Dandasana (Four-Limbed Staff): Release the oxygen in your lungs as you step back and assume a push-up pose. Lower your body to the floor, and reach for your heels with your elbows tucked in.
  6. Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward-Facing Dog): Bring your body forward and straighten your arms as you take a deep breath. With your hands on the floor, put your shoulders back and point your heart to the roof.
  7. Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog): Keep your hands flat on the floor while lifting your hips and placing the soles of your feet on the ground. Stretch your back until it’s flat, and maintain this stoned yoga posture for at least five breaths.
  8. Ardha Uttanasana (Half Forward Bend): Slowly stand up, placing your feet between your hands on the floor as you breathe. Gently straighten your back until it’s parallel with the floor.
  9. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend): Release the air in your body as you pull your torso to your thighs. If you feel any tension, bend your knees slightly.
  10. Urdhva Hastasana (Upward Salute): Take a deep breath as you stand up straight and place your arms above your head. Carefully arch your back and imagine yourself gazing up at the stars.
  11. Tadasana (Standing Mountain): Allow your hands to drop to your side as you exhale. Return your hands to the prayer position and place them next to your sternum.

Tips for Combining Cannabis With Yoga

Are you ready to start practicing yoga while high on marijuana? While each experience is unique, there are a few things everyone can do to improve their exercise session. Here are four fantastic tips:

  • People new to mixing cannabis and yoga should practice at home before joining a 420-friendly class. You’ll feel more comfortable in a familiar environment, allowing you to experience the moment without any distractions.
  • There are loads of ways to consume marijuana. If you don’t know how to roll a joint, you can make an easy homemade bong. You could also avoid smoking altogether by ingesting a delicious THC-infused edible.
  • Pairing weed and yoga is a brilliant time to practice self-control and moderation. Remember that a little goes a long way, so don’t ingest too much cannabis before your session.
  • Marijuana is known to leave your mouth and eyes dry, which can be an annoying distraction. Remember to drink lots of water throughout your yoga exercise to avoid feeling dehydrated.
