Despite junior Didem Ege's 31 defensive saves, which set a Clemson record of 1,551, the Tigers fell to Duke 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 27-25, 25-21) Friday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Senior Jeannette Abbott and senior Danielle Hepburn both tallied 18 kills apiece for Clemson, while Kelsey Murphy contributed 28 saves and 45 assists.
Basketball wins exhibition against USC-Aiken
Oliver Purnell's squad defeated the top-ranked Division II school 94-60.

The Clemson men's basketball team downed USC Aiken in the season opener exhibition game last Thursday at Littlejohn Coliseum. Led by seniors Trevor Booker, 15 points, and Captain K.C. Rivers, 14 points, the Tigers crushed the Pacers 90-64. This was Coach Oliver Purnell's last chance to fine tune his Tigers as they prepare for the upcoming regular season competition.

Typically a Clemson-Duke game never implies much of a contest, but the 2008 season has certainly been different. Both the Tigers' and Blue Devils' postseason hopes rest on Saturday's matchup, as both squads are 4-5 on the year. We're all aware of the cataclysmic meltdown that has been Clemson football this year.

Running Backs: After all the anticipation and buildup that has accompanied with Ryan Torrain's name since his dazzling preseason that ended in injury, his season has ended after his first start. From what was seen, Torrain was everything he was built up to be as he managed 68 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries before he suffered an ACL tear that puts him out for the season.
