Fantasy Football: Broadway Brett makes his mark

We are now a quarter of the way into the NFL season, and hopefully your fantasy team has started to click on all cylinders. Storylines surfaced all across the league as week four arrived and left us so quickly.
The Giants, Titans and Bills are the last undefeated teams in the land, and Brett Favre set a career high for touchdowns in a single game. The season is starting to really take shape as the three top performers behind Favre were all running backs who had every reason to be there. Larry Johnson rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns while making Denver's defense look like it has the consistency of warm butter. Stephen Jackson had almost 150 yards from scrimmage with a touchdown, and LT hit paydirt twice with 106 yards rushing.
Hopefully your team won this past week, and if it did, it probably didn't have much to do with my prognostications. While some of my speculation towards this fantasy season have been correct (see: Michael Bush), many of my guesses have been grossly off thus far (Larry Johnson, Dante Rosario, etc). But whether or not you think my picks are wise or all-knowing, at least I was the guy who had the sense to instinctually pull Ben Roethlisberger from my starting quarterback slot and throw in Brett Favre this past Sunday morning.
Running Backs
Deuce McAllister didn't look like he was running on two reconstructed knees this past Sunday when he took 20 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. He looked like the McAllister of old as he moved piles and jumped over the linemen for a dramatic touchdown. Saints head coach Sean Payton said that McAllister's role will not change for the rest of the season. It looks like Deuce may have his confidence back, which means he is a dangerous man for other defenses to face. That isn't too shabby for a guy who wasn't even present on the Saint's depth chart before Sunday.
Next week presents a tougher defense than San Francisco for McAllister when the Minnesota Vikings come to town. The Vikings have the third best rushing defense in the NFL at 71.8 yards per game. But Minnesota ironically has allowed the fourth most touchdowns on the ground this season as a unit at six which could be a sign for McAllister owners. My advice is to pick up McAllister if you have an open spot on your roster but hold off on playing him until he is up against a lesser defensive opponent.
