Jesse Winchester, Clemson Tour Guide
Issue date: 10/3/08 Section: News
Melissa Whitson: What's your favorite aspect of the Clemson Tour Guide Association?
Jesse Winchester: I get to spend time with prospective students and their parents, telling them why Clemson is such a special place to me.
MW: What is the most "interesting" question you have been asked?
JW: "Is it necessary for me to get my daughter a fake ID before she gets here, or are the bars not strict?"
MW: What made you want to attend Clemson?
JW: I knew that I could get very involved here in some way, shape or form.
MW: Have you ever had to give a tour in the rain?
JW: Yes! I love rainy tours. I guess I am just that hardcore…?
MW: What part of campus do people seem to like the most?
JW: I have recently altered my tour route to go through Trustee Park and I hear people admiring the oak trees. There or Tillman.
MW: Why is it important for students to "invest in Clemson" by getting involved?
JW: It is important to get involved because while we are here to learn, our college experience is shaped by what we do outside the classroom. I may not always remember a statistics test I bombed, but I will never forget my first campus tour.
MW: What kind of shoes do you think are best for walking around campus?
JW: Orange Sperrys! I want a pair so badly.
MW: Purple or orange?
JW: Orange. Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation.
MW: Would you rather give tours to parents or to students?
JW: Information has to be delivered to parents in a different way than students, so I have to know how to do both at the same time. I think it is important to mix parents and students on tours, but the students are my favorites for sure.
