On Friday, Sept. 12 Littlejohn Coliseum will host Tiger Shag. The concert will feature the beach sounds of bands such as The Embers, The Catalinas, the Out-of-Towners and The East Coast Band, as well as inflatable games and food. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Littlejohn Coliseum east gate box office, TicketMaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Clemson students and employees are entitled to a discount of $5. There is a limit of two tickets per Clemson ID. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and music will begin at 6 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted at the show, but coolers and outside food and drink are not allowed.
Broadway singer and former Miss South Carolina Kimilee Bryant returns to the Upstate to star in "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway," a musical revue of show tunes. Bryant will perform selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" as well as other Broadway favorites at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Bryant, who grew up in Greenville, has performed the role of Christine Daae from "Phantom" on Broadway, in Switzerland and Toronto, and received critical acclaim for her role in the show's U.S. tour. EnAble '08, a concert to benefit Clemson University's Office of Student Disability Services will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Madren Center. Classic rock band Klaxon, a band comprised of Clemson faculty members Tim Kelley, vocals; Gregg Moore, guitar; Alex Nash, guitar; Andrew Duchowski, percussion; and Matt Lilli, bass, will perform. There will be food, door prizes and special presentations. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for all others. Tickets are available at the Student Disability Services office in Redfern or at the door.
The Brooks Center 2008-2009 concert season will open Sept. 4 with male vocal ensemble Rockapella. The a capella group includes tenors Scott Leonard, Kevin Wright and John K. Brown; bass George Baldi; and vocal percussionist Jeff Thacher. Rockapella gained national fame in 1991 with an appearance on the PBS special "Do It A Cappella," a film produced by Spike Lee, and are known for their theme song for the PBS television show, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Tickets for Rockapella are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Jesse McCartney will highlight this year's Verizon Wireless Last Chance Summer Dance. Pop star Jesse McCartney will headline the annual Last Chance Summer Dance hosted by B93.7 and Verizon Wireless. The concert will take place Friday, Sept. 5, at Littlejohn Coliseum and will also feature performances from We the Kings, Bowling for Soup, Colby O'Donis and Shontelle.
