Wise words from former freshmen.
The first year of college is unlike any other time in life. Gone are the days of living under your parents' roof. Gone are the routines that high school ingrained in you. Now you're living in a dorm with people who are all the same age as you. You choose your classes (and whether or not to attend them).
Life after college

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but if everything goes well I'll be graduating from Clemson in a little more than a month's time. I'm excited, of course. My family is coming to town and there will be a party and all that jazz. It should be a blast. And after that, school will be out for the summer and my time as an undergraduate student will draw to a close.
Dealing with an indifferent universe

I find myself on a giant rock that spends its time orbiting a spherical fire. This concerns me. It apparently concerns others, too, because they compassionately lay siege on my mind with a number of competing instructions for what to do after finding myself on the aforementioned flame-bound rock.

Ah, the good old days - before cell phones were necessary for survival, before iPods became extensions of people's bodies. Before Facebook began to dictate our "events" and streamline our relationships. Good old days? What am I talking about? I can barely remember a time before these technologies existed.
Liberty above all

In an attempt to give up essential liberty for the sake of the "public good," some people have started giving local and state governments the power to make decisions for privately-owned businesses without the consent of the owners. This is occurring mostly because some people run to government to solve problems rather than taking up their issues with the owners of the businesses they frequently visit.
What's the real state of the union?

In his state of the union speech, George W. Bush said that "from expanding opportunity to defending our country, we've made good progress." Oh, really? When? Was I asleep during all of this progress? Thankfully the president was happy to enlighten us, first by bringing up his saves-the-day stimulus package.
