Team develops alternative fuel

With environmental issues increasing over the past decade, much effort has been put forth to promote renewable resources of energy. Clemson has taken part in this effort by organizing the Green Tiger initiative, a program that promotes demonstration of renewable and sustainable energy technologies coming from research on campus.
BMW link under scrutiny

National news outlets have recently called attention to Clemson's relationship with German automotive manufacturer BMW. The University partnered with BMW in 2002 when the auto-manufacturer gave $10 million toward Clemson's 250-acre International Center for Automotive Research (ICAR) on I-85.

Clemson is leading the way in environmental preservation aspiration among college campuses across South Carolina through the University's "Solid Green: Keep Clemson Clean" anti-litter campaign. President James Barker and Clemson Mayor Larry Abernathy signed the campaign's official proclamation at this year's Welcome Back Festival.

With a full schedule of classes, homework, studying and football practice, Ray Ray McElrathbey returned to Clemson for his second year with even more responsibility, albeit one with which most Clemson students do not identify. In June McElrathbey, 19, requested and received temporary custody of his younger brother, Fahmarr, 11.

With rates of Internet use on campus higher than ever before, some professors are beginning to restrict the use of laptops during class time. National News Youth football coach arrested An assistant youth football coach was arrested on charges of felony child abuse after rushing the field and knocking an opposing player to the ground, police said. Cory Petero, 36, of Riverbank, turned himself in to Stockton police department Saturday night following a late hit that turned into a brawl.
