About The Tiger

In 1889, Thomas Greene Clemson founded Clemson University upon the vision of providing a quality education in a diverse and stimulating environment. Less than eighteen years later, the first collegiate newspaper of South Carolina was sold for 75 cents on its campus. This biweekly journal of news and sports pieced together by a staff of student cadets was known as The Tiger.

Today, The Tiger is a weekly newspaper that is free to the University community. Recognized regionally and nationally for its design and content, The Tiger has matured into a robust publication by an energetic staff of undergraduates from all walks of life.

The Tiger: Online Edition began in October of 1997. We have been recognized as a leading college news site on both the state and national levels. We are proud to serve an average of 7,000 visitors every week.
